Cassandra Peterson – Elvira Mistress Of The Dark, 1951
Cassandra’s humble beginnings were as a young Vegas dancer at the age of 17. Her life transformed rapidly after a chat with Elvis Presley, who advised her to test her luck in acting and singing in Europe. Taking his advice to heart, she later relocated to Hollywood where she established her acting career with a handful of film roles. It was through these roles that she morphed into the character Elvira. She leveraged Elvira’s fame to produce several movies, such as ‘Elvira’s Haunted Hills’ and ‘Elvira, Mistress of the Dark’. Cassandra donated the majority of her film earnings to animal welfare organizations and HIV/AIDS charities.
